Congratulations to Club President Gerry O’Connell, who finished =5th in the Irish Championships. Gerry faced David Fitzsimons as black in the final round, knowing that a win would guarantee him a share of the title. Sadly, it wasn’t to be, but his result, a 2240 performance, remains extremely impressive.
Also notable were the performances of the Manojlovics. Anastasia scored 3/5, an 1100 performance rating, including a win over 1247-rated Maurice Coveney. With bonus points, her rating shoots up from 700 to 827. Meanwhile, Mihailo scored 2.5/5, including a draw with 1376-rated P.J. O’Reilly. Well done to both siblings.
