The LCU have announced the teams to make up this year’s Bodley division, and also confirmed the story regarding relegation from the O’Hanlon in light of withdrawals from the Ennis.
17 teams have entered the Bodley this year – Blachardstown A, Blanchardstown B, Bray/Greystones A, Bray/Greystones B, Clondalkin, Curragh, Elm Mount, Gorey, Inchicore, Malahide, Naomh Barróg A, Naomh Barróg B, Phibsboro, Shankill, St Benildus A, St Benildus B and Skerries. As 12 is the maximum number of teams for any one division, the Bodley will be split on a basis yet to be confirmed. North/south is the most common split, which would leave a Bodley South looking something like – Bray/Greystones A, Bray/Greystones B, Clondalkin, Curragh, Gorey, St Benildus A, St Benildus B and Shankill. Conveniently, the other nine clubs are all on the northside. However, the LCU hope to confirm exact details and fixtures by the end of the month.
We have been asked to declare squads for both teams, and have done so as follows –
St Benildus A
St Benildus B
The Bodley is a 5-player team; however, we’ve declared six on each panel as we can’t sub from the B team to the A team. If you have been declared on a team and don’t want to/can’t play leagues this season, or if you’ve not been declared on a team and want to play, let us know up the club either this evening or next week; the teams aren’t 100% set in stone as yet.
The Bodley this season is one hour each for all moves; however, clubs can agree a longer time control for games between themselves, and we will be looking to play with the longer time control (either 90 or 105 minutes for all moves) whenever possible.
Meanwhile, the LCU have also confirmed that relegation will operate as per normal from the O’Hanlon this season, with the bottom two clubs being relegated. As there are two clubs missing from the Ennis, this would mean that four clubs will have to be promoted from the BA to fill this gap, and four promoted from the Bodley to fill the resulting gap in the BA. However, while it has been confirmed that two clubs will be relegated from the O’Hanlon, the promotion structure will not be confirmed until the next LCU committee meeting. We’ll update on that as and when we hear news.
