The Armstrong climbed back to fourth place in the table after recording a seventh win of the season on Wednesday.
Emulating the O’Hanlon and Bodley A last week, they claimed victory by the narrowest of margins against their closest rivals geographically – Dún Laoghaire in this instance. It was a very tight game, with just three decisive results – and two of those were the last two to finish, with Zdravko and Gerry winning to seal a 4½-3½ win. Dún Laoghaire should have drawn the game overall, but John Healy fairly snatched at a draw offer when about to lose a rook on the next move!
A successful season comes to an end later this month when we go for a record eighth win of the season in the final game – a repeat of last season’s finale against Rathmines A.
