While we couldn’t make it a fourth major tournament in a row with a title – after Bunratty, Drogheda and Galway – there were still many reasons for considering Kilkenny 2013 a big success for Benildus.

There were a number of surprises last night in a dramatic night up the club!
After two honourable defeats in their opening two games – both against the title favourites – the Bodley B recorded their first win of the season tonight with a comfortable and impressive win over Naomh Barróg A.
Live score from tonight’s Bodley game –
Naomh Barróg A 1½-3½ St Benildus B
William Kenny – won
Cal Nolan – drew
Declan Dolan – lost
Mark Dennehy – won
Richard O’Rahilly – won
The ratings have been updated for Kilkenny, and the biggest winner and loser from the weekend may surprise!
While the two Bodley favourites go head-to-head and the Armstrong clash with former champions Phibsboro, the regular club night may well claim the main billing of the night with a former World Champion conqueror giving a simo exhibition.
The Bodley A had a third big win of the season last night, but it was far closer than the 4-1 scoreline suggests!
After the success of last Wednesday’s extra friendlies against Gonzaga’s Bodley last week, Rathmines’ Bodley will be offering a similar opportunity this Wednesday. Anyone interested in playing, post here or drop me a line. Priority will be given to those players not on either Bodley panel and those on the A team who are sitting out the main game against Rathmines. Bodley B and O’Hanlon players can be catered for as well though. Probable time control for friendly games is 75 minutes each for all moves.
With the O’Hanlon winning again and the Bodley B taking a point off runaway league favourites Gonzaga, last night’s league action was quite satisfactory overall.
The Bodley A are top of the league, though not without another scare in their second game in four days.
