The club’s annual charity blitz will take place on the later-than-usual date of 5th February, the first Wednesday of the new year with no league games on.
The format will be the same as ever, the evening’s always fun, so keep the date free!

As we reach the Christmas break, a quick look around the leagues to see how each of our teams is doing in the Leinster Leagues.
Despite – or maybe because of – the sheer number of games of chess that have been played, the game can always throw up a bizarre but brilliant position. Here‘s one example – a mating attack which ends with five g-pawns!
The Heidenfeld look like they need a miracle on a par with last season’s O’Hanlon escape after a 7-1 thrashing against 2011/12 Armstrong champions Rathmines A last night.
On Friday evening, the O’Hanlon had five players, including a Bodley B sub, and were facing into a heavy defeat away to a Ballinasloe side with a 2078 on board 1 and whose worst result this season has been a 4½-1½ win. 24 hours later, the side return to Dublin with a 3½-2½ win, which possibly even marks then out as genuine promotion candidates.
The Heidenfeld fail to beat relegation rivals again, while the Bodley B are denied a whitewash.
