Friday is a rest day in the World Youth Chess Championships in northern Greece – and at the half-way mark, Ross is the joint top scorer among the Irish contingent.
The Armstrong B were brought down to earth after their excellent round 2 draw in Bray when going down to a 6-2 home defeat against Dublin.

Three matches on the one Saturday was always going to stretch the club’s resources – in the end, despite trying 26 players overall, we had to scratch four of 16 matches and scramble what we could from the games we did play.
The first round of the 2015 Frank Scott Shield took place last week and produced wins for all bar one of the seeds – but some of the other games were far closer than expected!
