All posts for the month November, 2015
With Christmas (and exams!) getting close, the club has put a few arrangements in place for the holiday period.
Excellent Swiss submarine performances from Seán and Cal plus a grading prize for Joe were the highlights from the 26-strong St Benildus contingent in Kilkenny 2015.
St Benildus Chess Club will be hosting the 2016 Irish Junior Championships in the Killiney Castle Hotel from 1st to 3rd April. Entry will formally open in the new year, but in the meantime, the flyer is available here.
Any club members interested in helping out over the weekend – admin, controlling, registration, etc – should contact Kevin or Desmond.
The BEA won 4-1 for the second time in a fortnight to go second in the table.
The Leinster Junior Championships will take place in their usual New Year slot – the flyer is here.
The O’Hanlon and O’Sullivan both picked up wins on Wednesday, but with a bit more luck they could have emerged with an unprecedented double whitewash.
After narrow defeats to title favourites Enniscorthy and, with three subs, to Drogheda, the BEA staked their promotion credentials with a big win in Inchicore on Thursday.
Six players will go into next month’s final round of the Frank Scott Shield with a chance of lifting the title.
