Tomorrow will see the first (and hopefully not the last!) coaching session up the club, with Mel Ó Cinnéide from our Armstrong A looking at “Winning in chess”, a topic which is often far more complicated than it sounds! We’re hoping to start around 7:30 in the geography room.
Mel – who beat Karl McPhillips FM in the Armstrong last week – reckons the session will last about 50 minutes, and will be interactive. It’s the first time we’ve run such a session, and there’s obviously a wide range of levels on a regular club night, so there will be a couple of sets available in one of the other classrooms for casual games if some players if required. But we’d encourage all club members to come along and pick up a couple of ideas to add to their game.
Many thanks to Desmond for throwing down the gauntlet, and of course to Mel for being the first to pick it up!
