The top seeds once again failed to have things all their own way on the opening night of our club championships last night, and while their eventual score of 10½/12 was the best yet, Zdravko, Mihailo and the two Ciaráns all had their work cut out to record wins.

Zdravko won the fourth Benildus-and-assorted-others King of the Mountains title in a meadow somewhere up the Wicklow Mountains at the weekend.
There’s a revised draw for Wednesday’s first round of the club championships.

The draw has been made for the first round of the 2016 club championships, which has attracted a record entry of 27. And after Robbie Brady’s late goal last night, the top seed will once again have white on board 1.
Edit – we’ve since had a request for a bye, so there may well be a re-draw. Stay tuned!
The nice weather can only mean one thing – it’s exam time again. Tim, Diarmaid and Mihailo start the Junior Cert, while Anastasija starts the Leaving Cert. Best of luck to all!
Mariusz was one of the surprise winners of this year’s Drogheda Congress, coming out on top in the Over 1600s section. That’s not the 1600-2000 section, but the open-ended over 1600s section, where he was seeded 13th of 17 entrants!
