In which I ended up as runner-up in the battle of the runner-ups, we lost one of the tournament’s few remaining unbeaten records, and results elsewhere mean the final two players never to have lost since the tournament was resurrected will go head-to-head in round 4.

You can follow Mihailo’s progress in the 7th Open International Championship of Vojvodina here, where he’s the 170th seed of 196 competitors. After starting off with a round 1 defeat against another Manojlovic – Sava – he beat a 1900 in round 2 and has just started round 3 against a 1990. Best of luck!
Round 2 of our club championships went the same way as round 1 – very few upsets, with Pawel winning decisive material inside the first four moves, but Seán finishing first – and it means there’s some big ties set up for round 3.
