Mihailo, Ross and Anastasija aren’t the only Benildus club members who’ve been playing abroad this month – a couple of the Cooneys were in action in a recent blitz tournament in Zaragoza.
Ireland have secured an unprecedented second successive win in the Glorney, while Benildus have also helped Ireland to a second successive runner-up spot in the Gilbert.
The 2016 Glorney starts on Monday, and you can follow Ross and Anastasija’s games live on the official site. The first round is at 9:30 on Monday. Best of luck to all involved!
You can follow Mihailo’s progress in the 7th Open International Championship of Vojvodina here, where he’s the 170th seed of 196 competitors. After starting off with a round 1 defeat against another Manojlovic – Sava – he beat a 1900 in round 2 and has just started round 3 against a 1990. Best of luck!

Round 2 of our club championships went the same way as round 1 – very few upsets, with Pawel winning decisive material inside the first four moves, but Seán finishing first – and it means there’s some big ties set up for round 3.
The draw for next week’s second round of the club championships has been made after the final match in the first round was decided this evening.
