The O’Hanlon A travelled to Drumcondra for the second time this season to play Elm Mount B, having narrowly beaten their As in October. With our Bs having won 4½-1½ against them the week before, there was some pressure on to get a big win.

The draw for the top section in this weekend’s Gonzaga Classic has been made. Benildus have six players in the top section, including a club derby and a live game as Zdravko takes on a GM!
The Heidenfeld kicked off the new year with a sixth straight win, picking up six wins for a 6-2 win, the sixth time the team have scored between 5½ and 6½ this season – though this time, they were aided by Aodhán winning twice on the same night.
The Foxrock/Cabinteely Community Games team are putting a call out for players for their U16 chess team in the upcoming competition.

There’s a number of international tournaments on over the summer, with initial training squads starting in March, so with a number of Benildus players in line for a call-up, it’s worth keeping an eye on what needs to be done to be considered for international selection come summer.
For the fifth time in six years, Benildus have picked up silverware at the Leinster Junior Championships, with Danny Kashanin’s triumph in the Leinster U-11s meaning the club now has its name on every trophy from U-10s up to U-19s.
