Ireland were generally mid-table in all sections of the Glorney, which finished in Scotland this morning, but there was some good performances from the Benildus representatives.
Brendan Lyons has finished his campaign with Ireland’s Over-50s in Dresden with a draw against a Singaporean IM, while four Benildus players are heading off to Scotland this week to play for Ireland’s U-12s.
Last week’s first round of the club championships was, as ever, far tighter than the ratings predicted, and already we have a possibly uncatchable leader in the David v Goliath prize.
Brendan Lyons’ excellent win against an FM helped the Irish over 50s team to a 2-2 draw against Leipzig in the World Senior Championships in Dresden.
The draw has been made for next week’s second round of the Senior Club Championships.
