Our originally Christmas charity blitz will take place in its now customary time-slot of “not Christmas”, which this year means the 11th of March.
The Heidenfeld A finally show form, Kilkenny have the Armstrong and O’Hanlon looking over their shoulders, and the Bodley actually play a game – it’s time for another round-up of our league teams’ fortunes.
The club has entered a team in the Irish Team Blitz Championships event, which will take place from on 1st March from 6pm in the Talbot Hotel. It’s a team of four, with 11 games, and as last year, we’ll put in a team of the four highest-rated players interested. Drop me a line or post here!
Round 2 of the 2020 Blitz Grand Prix saw Gerry and Leon take the joint lead, courtesy of sharing not only the first two tournaments, but also the first two fourth place spots.
The second round of the 2020 Blitz Grand Prix is down for this Wednesday at 8pm. Meanwhile, our annual Charity Blitz has been confirmed for 11th March, with registration from 7:30 and hopefully getting underway at 8pm.
Not in the leagues, alas – but the 2020 Gonzaga weekender provided a welcome return to form for Benildus players, with a first double, and some other notable performances.
With the Frank Scott Shield out of the way for another year, we’ll be looking at doing a few talks up the club between now and when we close for the summer. We’ll be kicking it off on Wednesday with a talk on openings aimed at under 1200. It should last from around 8-8:45.
The February FIDE ratings list has been published, and Kavin has added to his 89 point gain in January with a further 212 points in February to break into the top 40 U12s in the world. Big congratulations are due – but the path to GM is only getting underway!
