The new season of the online 4NCL is open for entry, with the deadline of 9th August ahead of a first round of 24th August, and every second week thereafter. While this may clash with the Leinster leagues (which touch wood will be back soon!), we will put teams in if there’s interest – which there is at present, albeit that it’s unlikely we’ll have four teams like last time. The Glorney 2021 was an online event again, and Benildus was well-represented, including an overall winner.
Continue ReadingWell done to Wenle, who took second place at the Irish U1300 weekender, the first over-the-board tournament in a year. A year of online chess will have played havoc with ratings, but Wenle drew with eventual winner Gavin Sheahan and, in the final round, James Scarry, which denied him a share of outright victory. Gavin was sole winner, while Wenle was one of seven players on 4/5, including Jason Liu.
