St Benildus had, slightly curiously, plenty of success at the recent primary school finals.
The school’s senior team once again finished up runners-up to Gonzaga in the Leinster Schools Finals in Castleknock today.
There was no joy again in a rather polarised All-Ireland Schools Finals in Downpatrick at the weekend.
There was an unusual double-header in Gonzaga this afternoon as the finals of the Leinster Schools Championships took place alongside first versus second in the Armstrong – but the weekend saw Benildus teams not in action fare far better than those who were playing.
There was disappointment for Benildus in Galway today as Gonzaga came away with all three national titles.
Despite having a depleted panel, Benildus have made a solid start in the school All-Irelands in Galway today, though we’re already lagging a bit behind our usual rivals, Gonzaga.

St Benildus College sent its customary pair of teams to Millfield last weekend, and in spite of losing their board one at the last moment to the flu, the A team accomplished its highest finish in four years.
St Benildus’ young under-16 panel had to content themselves with second place in the schools All-Irelands this weekend.
