In which I proved I can still finish on top of the pack…for now!
For anyone interested, the Dublin Community Games chess competition takes place this weekend from 5-7pm on Saturday in the Parish Community Centre, Malahide.
The Irish Juniors are being held in the Talbot Hotel in Stillorgan this year; entry has recently opened on the ICU website. This is a great tournament for experienced players and beginners alike and well worth considering!
The team blitz tournament was hugely popular last year, and it’s back on the calendar this year; it’s on 3rd March in the Talbot after the junior coaching session. We’ll enter a team in this again if there’s interest, with rating deciding places if there’s more than 4 interested. If you are interested, just post here or ask up the club.
The first tournament of the new year – the Leinster Juniors – produced the same outcome as in previous years; Ryan, Kavin and Zhengjun were runner-up in the U10s, U12s and U14s, bringing the club’s streak of runner-up spots to eleven since we last had a Leinster Junior Champion.
A fourth top two finish in a row was for Eric was the main highlight of a solid weekend’s work in Kilkenny this year, where we had 17 players playing all told.
The Sona Youth Cup is only half-way through, but already the U12s has been won by St Benildus.
